Flavio Gracias – HAPC’s new Chairman

Flavio Gracias, who previously held the position of Vice-Chairman of the charity took over the position of Chairman from Derrick Pereira.

Flavio was born in Mombasa, Kenya.  After finishing his schooling, he bacame a teacher.  Whilst in Kenya, his voluntary services included a spell with the Kenya Police Reserve.

He came to the UK in 1968 and joined British Gas in 1970, where he worked for the next 25 years.  During this time he also took office of the Goan Overseas Associaton (G.O.A.) UK and was elected President from 1987 to 1989.

In his outgoing speech, Derrick said that, with Flavio at the helm, not only is HAPC in safe hands but that it could look forward to the charity being taken to another higher level.  He welcomed Flavio’s leadership qualities to HAPC and said that his background and experience will give the charity a more professional edge.
